New products for racing offered at Performance East

Postby Dirt2race on Sun Jan 25, 2009 1:20 am

Performance East and Carolina Custom ATV have joined forces in selling high performance racing upgrades. All of these products will be available exclusively at PE in NC.

The first is the radiator relocation kit for Outlanders, Renegades, Grizzlys and Brute Forces. The kits are different from the rest because the front is removable for cleaning and can also be custom lasered to say whatever will fit. If later you want something different lasered, it can be removed and a different one purchased. They come mill finish standard, but powder coating will be an option. Pricing will be in the $275 range and custom lasering will be around $50.00 or, it will be around $30.00 for 10 or more.

The second is a fuel tank/battery relocation kit for Outlanders and Renegades. This mod has 2 huge benefits. Moving weight to the front of the bike, means less weight will have to be added to control the front end in the pit. This is also true in Drag Racing, making the front end heavier and less likely to lift the front end. For pit racing, the second advantage is to remove the tank from under the seat. The tank acts like a 4.5 gallon balloon when its under water, to demonstrate, try holding a five gallon bucket under water. That is what the tank is doing to the back of your bike while it is under water. This mod will take about 10 hours to complete. No special tools needed.

The third is Aluminum tire clamps. The original manufactures of crush locks had a great idea but we are taking them to the next level. Steel weighs almost 40% heavier than aluminum, and that is bolted directly to the axle, which in turn, makes the engine have to work harder to spin the weight and it also has to propel it forward. These will come in 12" and 14" sizes, and will have all brands bolt patterns drilled in them. More info and pricing will be released on this item next week. Yes, this is all legal in any stock class, in any series. Radiators have been relocated for a long time. This does not change performance of the engine or the location of any chassis pieces. It just takes advantage of the weight associated with these items and puts it where they need to be for racing. The Renegades are going to have to have the front bumper modified to accommodate the battery, so they will be a tank relocation only kit and will have an option of the battery relocation. The Renegade is stripped down being stretched right now and will hopefully be reassembled next week so I can show the mods needed.

wouldn't you want to keep some weight on the back axles? maybe keep the battery in the back and the tank up front?

Have you looked at me lately, I think I am putting plenty of weight back there......LOL, when the front tires come up, that plants the rear tires. The fact that you are moving the tank and not creating the lift or float effect due to the tank being gone is planting the rear harder. The biggest concern people seem to have is trying to get the front end up if you put this mod on the Max bikes. You have 2 flotation devices bolted right to the wheels. Pump up the front tires to 20 or 30 pounds, and the front end will come up, plus you have to make sure you have the HP to pick the front end up. And all of this is at a lighter weight because you are not going to have to add weight to the front end to control it. It all boils down to set-up, weight and HP, if you figure those 3 things out, in any form of motorsports, you will be competetive, PERIOD.

Here is what the back of the bike looks like after the mods

do you have a round about price on the wheels?

I agree with you on the lighter weight wheels, that's the only reason I have never put water in my tires.

I am hoping to find out Monday or Tuesday. As soon I get the fab costs, I will price them. I am hoping for around $650 a set for 12" and $750for 14" but that is purely speculation. The laser that cuts them out is very expensive per hour, so we are trying to figure out how many sets can be produced per hour and how many sets we can get out of one sheet. Of course 1/4" aluminum sheets are much higher than steel, but the laser is actually faster than plasma which s what the crush locks are cut out with, so we are hoping that will keep the costs in line. All of these hopefully will be wrapped up this week. Thanks
